What a whirlwind of happy days with the sun continuing to shine on the gelato business. We couldn't be more pleased to announce that we won the Cotswold Life Food & Drinks Award 2019 - Newcomer of the Year category. Not bad for 11 months work!
The entire Hobbs family and friends Naomi and Meg - who have been a great help to Wholly Gelato attended the presentation at Cheltenham Racecourse, enjoyed amazing food and wine, great company - and boy - some positively fabulous nominees in all the categories. We have already started to visit some of them - great farm shops, eateries, pubs, chefs, drinks from around the Cotswold regions - some amazing provenance stories.
Jenni also attended the Happerley Transparent meeting in Apperley, Glos, where Adam Henson, Phil Vickery and the fabulous Happerley team headed by Matthew Rymer announced their Centre of Food and Drink Provenance for England. They are a not-for-profit organisation which was set up to promote great food, regional, seasonal, totally transparent food chains, where the producers/farmers are not diminished in anyway for the work they do to produce good, healthy, clean, honest food for our regions. Where you know - by QR codes - exactly where it comes from, how it was produced, where it was produced and who produced it! We wish this project all the best and hope it brings a realistic change to a messed up food industry where integrity has been down-graded hugely, at great cost to our agricultural industry, incomes and especially the health of the nation.
